Neal performs robotic, laparoscopic & open kidney transplantation, kidney donation and endocrine surgery.

Neal has performed more than 400 kidney transplants, including over 100 live-donor transplants. He established the largest robot-assisted renal transplant programme in the U.K. where some patients deemed too large for open kidney transplantation were able to receive a live-donor transplant. He has also performed more than 200 live-donor nephrectomies, using both the robotic and laparoscopic techniques.

Neal’s main endocrine interest is the management of adrenal tumours and other retroperitoneal pathology such as paragangliomas, for which he performs robotic, laparoscopic and open surgery, depending on the size and location of the tumour. He also performs parathyroidectomy for primary and renal hyperparathyroidism.

Neal performs:

  • Robotic and laparoscopic donor nephrectomy

  • Robotic and open live-donor renal transplantation

  • Deceased donor renal transplantation

  • Ureteric re-implantations and reconstructions post-transplant

  • Robotic and laparoscopic adrenalectomy

  • Open resection of retroperitoneal endocrine tumours

  • Parathyroidectomy
